Legend of Korra Book 2 Set
I am so super excited for Book 2 which is officially coming out in July even though its been 10 months since Book 1. Right know Bryan and Micheal are doing graphic finished so its almost done. I just have a few thing I think should be addressed in Book 2 and I hope are:
1) ALOT on Iroh. Before I even say my hopes, I just want to say that I can not even fathom hearing Zuko's sexy voice but seeing his grandson who looks like superman having it instead if his beautifully scarred face. Who's with me? Moving on.
Anyone who likes Avatar knows that Zuko was the most loved character in the series and had one of the biggest fandoms in the world of anime. Being his grandson, The producers need as much info on Iroh as they can put because us people who love Zuko (pretty much everyone) still don't have ceartin things about him we still want to know. For example, if you read the comic book series where the Last Airbender left off called the promise, you know Mai and Zuko broke up and as far as I know they never got back together. Plus, Iroh is Zukos grandson so he is an heir, so he should be firebird not a general. Things like that are things that need to be somehow elaborated on, and knowing how good Bryan and Micheal are, I think some will be.
2) Korra and Mako. Okay, I don't even really ship them (#borra) but I feel they would be a much better couple if they're relationship didn't seem so forced, and I think a lot of people would agree with me. If Mako and Asami were never together maybe Makorra would be better. It was kind of like Aang and Kataras relationship, they had chemistry but I couldn't help feel they weren't right for each other, that Aang might have been better off with Toph. Which might be the same reason I think Korra should end up with Bolin. I just think it would've been better if they were together before and Asami wasn't romantically involved with Mako at all. Then they made them break and and Mako went straight to Korra. I feel like he's getting too many chances. And can I just say I love Asami and if it was up to me have her end up with Mako while Borra lives happily ever after? Well, now they're together. Hopefully they're relationship will be smooth sailing, then maybe I'll start liking Makorra more. Plus Asami and Mako were REALLY good together, they have to beat that. I know that Book 2 takes place 6 months after where Book 1 left off so Korra and Mako might not even be together abymore considering they way they bicker, but it would probably just be stupid to do that. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
3)Amon. I know, we all saw the boat blow up, but the entire series was centered around his doing they can't just kill him off. If you ask me, it seems like they're paralleling Zuko at the end of the first book in the Last Airbender, when his ship was blown up but he survived and many people say that's where his true metamorphosis into a protagonist started but set in later, which is what I think they're doing. Think about it, even though Zuko was a bad guy, you couldn't help but think that he was going to become good, which is what a lot if people say about Amon, including me. And also, personally, I don't think I ever disliked Amon. I always had a soft spot for him and I don't know why. Just like I did for Zuko then again, just look at Zuko....... Well, hopefully Amon isn't dead and he will switch to team Avatar
4) Okay this one isn't a hope, I just want to talk about the book finale.Pros and cons, but cons first.
I feel like they had so much they didn't elaborate on the entire book that it was just smushed into the finale like, Korra going into the avatar state for the first time. I loved and hated it. I didn't like that fact that it seemed so rushed. I love Avatar and Korra don't get me wrong but I feel like when making the finale Bryan and Micheal said "oh shit she's an avatar she haseto go into the avatar state" then just threw it in there. The only reason Aang went into the avatar state so early is because he already had a spiritual connection that he was taught by the monks, which Korra lacked so severly. I feel like Korra's airbending was a nice touch though, I screamed when she threw Amon out the window!
Another thing that really bothered me is that When Mako tried to get Korra right after her bonds to water, earth and fire are severed she says "I'm not the avatar anymore" and says there no reason he should be interested. Then after becoming fully physically realized she goes to him, officially starting their relationship. I just don't understand the point of their relationship. As you know, I ship Borra because Korra and Mako are both such strong character they can't handle each other and Mako a a tiny bit uptight. Korra is a strong woman, but she shared a laid back quality with a more decisive Bolin who takes away some stress of the young avatar's shoulder unlike Mako. Maybe if they show Mako and Korra as more compatible it'll be better.
5) Ursa. In case your not a super crazy cray mega fan like me who is an Avatar encyclopedia (not bragging or anything) and you don't know who Ursa is, she is the mystery of Zukos mother. Again, if your not a big fanatic like me and you don't know what happened to her here's the run down: if you recall in the episode "Zuko Alone" where he has constant flashbacks of his mother, in one scene when is about 12, she waked him up late at night and says "Zuko, listen to me, my love. No matter what, never forget who you are." And he never did. Anyway, in the same flashback, the next morning shows that Ursa is gone and Zukos grandfather, Azulan, is dead pronouncing his father the new firelord Ozai. Later on in the series in Book 3, "Day of Black Sun Part 2", Zuko confronts his father about his mother and we find out the night Ursa disappeared, Ozai requested that Azulan take away his brother, Uncle Iroh's, birth right to become firelord because his son, Zuko and Azula's cousin Lu ten has just died in the war. Azulan was appalled at Ozai's request and saidto understand Iroh's pain, he had to lose his first born son who just so happened to be the blessed precious sex god we all know and love. Ozai didnt care, he was actually going to do it. Ursa, upon hearing this, was automatically opposed and went into mama bear mode, defending her son and demanding Ozai spare Zuko and as a result of going against her husband, an heir to the throne, she was banished the same night she gave Zuko the most important advice he has ever been given. Then started the mystery of Zuko's mother. I read from more than one source that Korra would have an episode dedicated to where Ursa went after her banishment and whether or not Zuko found her. (PS: Zuko sent out a huge search party for his mother directly upon becoming firelord then eventually turned to Azula's assistance to find her. I am yet to find out if he ever did based on the comics and I hope I will in Korra) They already left that promise unfulfilled so far since, fun fact, the first part of the finale of Book 1 of Korra, "Skeletons in the Closet", was supposed to be centered around Ursa's story as an introduction of General Iroh as a character, but obviously they went with Amon's story. (But I have to admit, that was probably smarter to do instead of leaving him and his reasons unknown to everyone)
Well, obviously I'm going insane wondering how Book 2 will be executed and what the main focuses will be. And if you haven't seen the trailer for it yet, just go the Google and type in "legend of Korra book 2 trailer" and it should come up as a YouTube link. It was released about a month ago. It's pretty good he only thing is they don't show many clips from Book 2, which I think is because they don't want to give anything away at all, understandable. If you read all of this, I salut you. I have made you partially a mega fan if you weren't already, congratulations! Well fellow fan, I shall see you with the rest of the fandom when Book 2 finally premieres. Stay beautiful and keep bending!
